Aransas County Clerk Office

Misty R. F. Kimbrough is the Aransas County Clerk. The office has temporarily relocated to 2718 Hwy 35 N, Rockport, TX 78382-5709 while a new courthouse is under construction. Call (361) 790-0122 or fax (361) 790-0119. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:45 PM. The County Clerk website is at aransascountytx.gov.

The County Clerk maintains county court records for misdemeanor cases, probate matters, real property records including deeds and liens, marriage licenses, Commissioners Court minutes, and assumed name certificates. Civil case records at the county court level include misdemeanor civil matters and probate proceedings. The office also handles birth and death certificates for events that occurred outside city limits.

An important new requirement took effect October 1, 2025. Anyone filing documents in person at the official public records must show valid photo ID. This applies to deed filings, divorce decrees recorded into OPR, DBA filings, vital records, foreclosure notices, and military discharge records. If you are mailing documents, include a copy of your ID. Veterans who file DD-214 military discharge records do so free of charge and receive free certified copies.

Aransas County District Clerk

Three district courts serve Aransas County: the 36th, 156th, and 343rd District Courts. These courts rotate between five South Texas counties: Aransas, Bee, Live Oak, McMullen, and San Patricio. Because judges rotate throughout the year, it is a good idea to call the District Clerk's office to confirm when court will be held in Aransas County. The District Clerk handles felony criminal matters, general civil lawsuits over $500, family law cases, juvenile court records, child support payments, and court registry funds.

Note: Passport services at the Aransas County District Clerk's office were temporarily deactivated as of September 1, 2024. Services will resume when the new courthouse facility is available.

If you are mailing a document to be filed, include a $3.00 postage fee unless you provide a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Child support matters are handled through the Attorney General's office. Contact them at (361) 576-6088. The State Disbursement Unit for child support payments is at (800) 252-8014. For attorney general child support cases, contact the Aransas County District Clerk's office for coordination between these offices.
