The County Clerk maintains county court records for misdemeanor cases, probate matters, real property records including deeds and liens, marriage licenses, Commissioners Court minutes, and assumed name certificates. Civil case records at the county court level include misdemeanor civil matters and probate proceedings. The office also handles birth and death certificates for events that occurred outside city limits.
An important new requirement took effect October 1, 2025. Anyone filing documents in person at the official public records must show valid photo ID. This applies to deed filings, divorce decrees recorded into OPR, DBA filings, vital records, foreclosure notices, and military discharge records. If you are mailing documents, include a copy of your ID. Veterans who file DD-214 military discharge records do so free of charge and receive free certified copies.

Three district courts serve Aransas County: the 36th, 156th, and 343rd District Courts. These courts rotate between five South Texas counties: Aransas, Bee, Live Oak, McMullen, and San Patricio.
