Montgomery County District Clerk

The District Clerk office handles all district court civil records for Montgomery County. Montgomery County Clerk

The County Clerk, L. Brandon Steinmann, handles county court civil records, misdemeanor criminal records (Class A and B), probate files, real property records going back to 1836, marriage licenses, assumed name certificates, and commissioners court records. County Courts at Law No. 1, 4, and 5 serve Montgomery County for mid-range civil matters and misdemeanor cases. The online case search covers county courts, probate courts, and justice courts.

An assumed name certificate (DBA) costs $22.50 for one owner with $0.50 added for each additional owner. Veterans can get a fee waiver with valid ID. Note that corporations and LLCs must file assumed name certificates with the Texas Secretary of State rather than the county clerk under HB 3609. Foreclosure sales are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM on the steps of the Old 1936 Courthouse at 301 N. Main St. in Conroe.
